NAKIVO IT Monitoring for VMware vSphere

Configuration

• Login to Nakivo Backup and Replication Console
• From Nakivo dashboard navigate to Monitoring area.
• Click Add Monitored Items to add items you want to monitor

• Select items to monitor then click Save.

• Nakivo will start gathering the information about the selected items. It may take some time to collect the data so leave the system running for an hour.

• After some time you can check, the system displays the gathered information.

Hardened Virtual Appliance

Storing backups in several repositories, both onsite and offsite, is a good strategy for ensuring that no data is lost. But no matter where you store your backup files, they are never completely safe from ransomware. Unless your storage is immutable or air-gapped.

To boost your environment’s anti-ransomware resilience, NAKIVO Backup & Replication v10.5 introduces Hardened Virtual Appliance (VA). Now you can deploy the solution as a pre-configured VA with a Linux-based local repository, where you can make your backup copies immutable for a specified time period. Immutability protects your backups from deletion or editing: even the root user cannot modify or delete your locked data till the end of the immutability period.

Configuration

• Login to Nakivo Backup and Replication Console
• From the dashboard, navigate to the main menu Create > VMware vSphere backup job.

• Select VMs to backup then click Next.

• Select the Onboard repository to take benefit of the Immutability feature and Click Next.

• Configure the desired backup  Schedule and click Next.

• Configure the Retention Settings and the Immutability with the required value for the backup job .

• Enter the Job Name and click Finish & Run to start the backup immediately.

• Select Run for all VMs option then click Run.

• The backup job is running and you can monitor the progress

• After a few minutes, the backup job will be completed and you can test the Immutability

Test Immutability

To test the Immutability, navigate to the  Settings > Repositories and click the Onboard repository link.
