Backup to Amazon S3

You can now send backups and backup copies of VMs and physical servers directly to Amazon S3 buckets with NAKIVO Backup & Replication v9.4 Beta. To cut down on storage space and network strain, NAKIVO Backup & Replication performs incremental backup after the first full backup to Amazon S3. Built-in data compression also offers the flexibility to optimize storage space and speed up recovery, as recovery can be performed from a compressed backup without decompressing it first. Once backups are in Amazon S3, you have multiple methods to quickly restore what you need:

  • Restore individual files and folders without recovering the full source machine
  • Use Flash VM Boot to quickly recover compressed VM and server backups
  • Restore objects for Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory and SQL Server

Instant Object Recovery to Source for Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft Active Directory

Version 9.4 builds on the Instant Recovery feature for Microsoft Exchange and Active Directory objects and allows you to restore objects to their original location. Offering even greater flexibility, this version improves the existing granular recovery tools, which enable you to:

  • Easily access Active Directory databases and recover selected objects and containers directly from compressed and deduplicated backups
  • Instantly browse Microsoft Exchange databases and recover selected objects, such as emails, directly from compressed and deduplicated backups
  • Recover selected items by sending them back to the source server or exporting them directly to a new location

Instant Object Recovery for Microsoft Exchange and Active Directory helps you avoid downtime in the event of IT disruptions while helping to preserve the consistency of your data.

Instant Physical to Virtual Recovery

Now you can use the Flash VM Boot function in NAKIVO Backup & Replication to run VMware VMs from physical machine backups. This means that if a critical physical machine is down, you can use the backup files of the crashed physical machine to run the machine in a virtual environment.

Role-Based Access

With NAKIVO Backup & Replication v9.4 Beta, it is now possible to configure users’ access rights and the actions available to these users. This role-based control system works by assigning defined roles to users to limit what they can do and which information they can see. Such restrictions on users reduce the chance of human errors, deny access to unauthorized users and lower management overhead.

Backup of Fault-Tolerant VMware VMs

NAKIVO Backup & Replication v9.4 Beta can now back up and recover fault-tolerant VMware VMs. Fault-tolerance works by automatically creating a duplicated secondary VM that is logically identical to the primary VM. This means that any changes made to the primary VM are instantly applied to the secondary VM.

If a disruption occurs, fault-tolerant VMs instantly failover from the lost or damaged primary VM to an identical secondary VM, enabling users to continue operations without even noticing the disruption. This helps businesses minimize downtime and data loss while strengthening business continuity.
