Microsoft Teams on Windows Virtual desktop

As we are aware that Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) is a virtualization technology that hosts a desktop operating system and applications on a centralized server in a data center. Also, this will enable a fully personalized desktop experience to users with a fully secured and compliant centralized source. And many places Microsoft teams is using deployed and using VDI in the environment.

Recently Microsoft has launched their Windows Virtual Desktop Solution and which support chat and collaboration. Now Microsoft has announced that with media optimizations, it also supports calling and meeting functionality.

This was a long-awaited feature and now available in Public Preview for the Windows Desktop on Windows 10 machines. You can now start testing the new software without being part of any private previews. This feature has been one that was long on the waiting list for customers and has now been released!

Note that media optimization for Microsoft Teams is currently in public preview and Microsoft recommends evaluating the optimized Teams user experience before deploying Teams for production workloads. Certain features might not be supported or might have constrained capabilities. Media optimization for Microsoft Teams is only available for the Windows Desktop client on Windows 10 machines. Media optimizations require Windows Desktop client version 1.2.1026.0 or later.

With media optimization for Microsoft Teams, the Windows Desktop client handles audio and video locally for Teams calls and meetings. You can still use Microsoft Teams on Windows Virtual Desktop with other clients without optimized calling and meetings. Team chat and collaboration features are supported on all platforms.
