Enable Hyper-V Virtualization in Windows 8 or 10

Most of us using VMware Workstation as a virtualization platform for creating Labs for testing or learning purpose but it is not free of cost. Now Microsoft provides the ability virtualize your desktop operating system Windows 8 and Windows 10 without installing any other software.

In this Post, I will sharing information how to enable this feature on your Desktop machine running with Windows 10.

System requirements

Hyper-V is available on 64-bit versions of Windows Professional, Enterprise, and Education in Windows 8 and later.

It is not available on Windows Home and Mobile edition.

Hardware Requirements

      Below are Minimum requirement

  • 64-bit Processor with Second Level Address Translation (SLAT).
  • CPU support for VM Monitor Mode Extension (VT-c on Intel CPU’s).
  • Minimum of 4 GB memory.

Features should be enabled in BIOS

  • Virtualization Technology
  • Hardware Enforced Data Execution Prevention.

Enabling Hyper-V Virtualization Feature

Hyper-V is available on the widow’s features section; you have enable this feature from Windows Feature section on Control Panel

  • Navigate to Control Panel -> Programs and Features ->Turn Windows Feature on or off

  • When the Windows Features open, check the Hyper-V option. Then click Ok

  • New Windows will appear  and it will automatically search the required files as first stage and  it will apply the required changes to enable the feature , its just install the  Hyper-V binaries to your Windows .

  • Once it is completed  new window will prompt for a reboot ,  Click on Restart now .

  • Search Hyper-V Manager from Start Menu and Select

Hyper-V window will open and you can start using feature
